Arrive on time
Plan trips around arrival and departure times.
Hello convenience, goodbye multiple apps. By downloading and signing up to arevo, you don’t just get help sleuthing out the best ways to get around town. You also get immediate access to a range of discounts.
Follow these steps and you’re ready to go:
1. download arevo from Google Play Store (Android) or the App Store (iPhone)
2. open the app and tap Sign in with mobile
3. enter your mobile number to receive a 6-digit code via text
4. enter the code when prompted (sometimes your phone will do this automatically)
5. enter your first and last name and your email address.
If you skipped the sign-up process at first, don’t stress. You can always create an account later from the Settings tab.
We made a few adjustments here and there to improve how you plan your trip with us. Here’s what’s changed:
- cleaner map interface that prioritises transport
- single-tap access to view live public transport departure times across Melbourne
- live public transport disruption information while you’re on the move
- personalised preferences have been replaced with categorised trip options (walking, cycling, car and public transport) to make life easy
- dashboard view introduced to help you find cheap petrol prices and parking
- we bid farewell to myki top-up, but don’t worry, we’ll link you to the Public Transport Victoria (PTV) website to make life easy.
Your account: we’ve automatically disconnected your myki account from arevo. We don’t have your myki account details (like your login or credit card information) stored as we only operated as a conduit for Public Transport Victoria (PTV).
Your balance: fear less friends, your myki balance won’t be affected. The money you have there will remain, you’ll just need to check it and top it up differently. Here are a few options:
- top up online via the PTV website
- use a Quick Top Up machine in your local area
- head to your local 7-Eleven shop.
For more information on managing your myki, check out: ptv.vic.gov.au/tickets/myki
arevo is created and managed by RACV. The arevo Privacy Notice explains how we collect and handle the personal information you share with us, while the RACV Privacy Charter refers to how RACV generally collects and handles information. Put simply, we use data to help us provide a better service to you. Our aim is to improve traffic conditions for all Melburnians, and the data you share with us helps us identify patterns, trends and bottlenecks in order to understand and report on congestion problems.
Easy. We’ll have you on the road in no time. When you first open the app, you’ll see a map:
1. in the Where to? search box, type in where you want to go
2. tap the applicable address from the drop down and click Route
3. select the departure time (or arrival time) and click Done
4. if you want to walk, cycle or drive to your destination, tap on that option at the top of the screen and we’ll redirect you to Google or Apple Maps to start your trip
5. if you prefer public transport, select a suggested route to see a detailed breakdown for every step of your journey.
They sure are. Tap on any public transport icon to see live departure times from that stop or station, complete with any disruption alerts.
You bet. When you tap on a public transport icon on the map, you’ll get live status updates for each departure. Different coloured text indicates how the service is performing.
- Red: service is running late.
- Black: service is on time (or there is no live data available).
- Blue: service is early.
If there are disruptions affecting your line, stop or station, you’ll see a warning icon (of an exclamation point inside a triangle). Tap on it for details about the disruption. The same goes when you’re planning a trip!
We do, but with a little help from our friends. arevo seamlessly redirects you to Google or Apple Maps for turn-by-turn directions when you start your trip.
Straight from the source. We use the Department of Transport’s data feed, which means as soon as they know about a delay or disruption, you’ll know too.
Good question. We also hook you up with stellar parking through our partner UbiPark. They’ve been with us since day dot to save you from driving 20 laps around Lygon Steet to find a car park.
You can also check petrol prices and get discounts through arevo. Those little gems are all thanks to arevo being owned by RACV.
1. Tap the “Bike” tab to open the bike map and see a description of the different routes available
2. In the Where to? search box, enter the place you’d like to go, select the correct address from the drop down and click Route
3. Select the departure or arrival time
4. Click Done.
Each colour represents a different type of road or cycling path. We worked with councils and municipalities to bring this feature to life so you can suss out which route is best for your level of riding experience.
Blue: Off road shared path
These are shared paths for bikes and pedestrians that aren’t on roads. They’re usually found alongside rivers, creeks or train lines.
Green: Protected lane
These lanes are on roads. They have a physical barrier (usually made of concrete or plastic) to separate bikes from cars. You’ll also hear them referred to as ‘Copenhagen’ lanes. Very European.
Gold: Buffered bike lane / Shimmy route
Buffered lanes have two single white lines around 1m apart. They also have another painted strip along either white line for an additional .5m buffer to separate you from parked cars and motorways.
Shimmy routes are Council endorsed bike routes using low traffic and low speed roads, as an alternative to using arterial roads with higher traffic volumes and speeds. These segments comprising several streets have designated street signage and white bike symbols on road to assist bike riders in way-finding.
Orange: Painted lane (Green or White)
These lanes have two single white lines around 1m apart. Sometimes, they’ll also have fancy green paint inside the lane to boost visibility.
Sure can. Coloured guides will indicate the type of bike path you’ll travel on so you can plan ahead and feel safe on your journey
We are constantly working with councils to add more data to the map. If you’re a local council and want to work with us to include more cycle path and road data, send us a note at hello@arevo.com.au and we will be in contact.
